Nissan Silvia Drift Build [Part 2]: Parts, Engine rebuild, and sponsorship

Our journey with Ahmad Daham with what we're expecting to be one of Jordan's most extreme drift builds, started back in October, where the first S13.5 Silvia has entered the country and got itself jacked up and built from scratch.

It has taken a lot of effort, and time from everyone who was involved in this build, that even we didn't only stop at being there to take photos, but to even take parts to weld by ourselves,  look for piping, hoses, bolts, and help out however we can to make this build possible.

We had posted the first part of the build earlier with body work, chassis, suspension, and got the car on 4 wheels with an extremely wide steering angle set. After so many complications from parts delivery being delayed, to finding the parts needed, we're now headed to the most difficult part of the build.

We usually don't post only pictures without writing about the car and the experience of the driving on the road, instead we aim them to our Facebook page! But today we're going to be posting something new to us, which is backgrounds! We've caught the new GT3 roaming around town a few days ago and thought we'd take a couple pictures and share them with you guys, and in high resolution for the first time too.

While we were at the Dubai Motorshow 2013, we've captured some of the super cool noses of some of the most exciting cars around the show.

Although they were some crazy other noses, but too bad we couldn't have any privacy around some of them which made the pictures full of feet or finger prints.

Nissan Silvia Drift Build [Part 1]

One of the world's most favorite drift cars, and the most exciting chassis for drifting, was recently brought to Jordanian lands. The Nissan Silvia (owned by Ahmad Daham) became the first in the country to go into this field to compete in Jordan, and maybe later on all around the region.

We've been on spot with the building process since day 1, covering it inch by inch from inside out.
Built by Smart Performance, with the top of the line local mechanics, with the right parts and modifications, aiming to get it up to almost 850 WHP.

The Trio of Mercedes Benz's AMG Black Series

Somewhere in Affalterbach, Germany. A performance studio as they call it, run by AMG and is specialized in taking it further and creating what is called The Black Series. A division that reworks current AMG cars to be powerful enough to establish top performance around top tracks in the world, but legal for the streets.

We were lucky enough to have one of the finest 3 models of the Black Series lineup in Amman, and also be able to have a kickass photoshoot at Al-Abdali project.

The new Porsche Cayman 981 Launch

Since 2005 till 2012, Porsche has remained with its first generation of the Porsche Cayman model and had a facelift back in 2009 with a revised engine setup, aerodynamics and more. Yet still that wasn't enough for Porsche.

In 2012, a new Cayman was unveild at the Geneva Motor show, showing the new revised design of the completely new Cayman which was lower,  faster, lighter, and better in all ways.

We had the chance to attend the launch event at Porsche Jordan, and to learn more about the car in real life, and trust us, it looks even better in person than in pictures.

Supercars take on the Panorama - Dead Sea

Last week, the Italian, American, and German high performance machinery, have invaded one of the coolest driving roads in Jordan. The Panorama, Dead Sea.

With a beautiful collection of sportcars and supercars, we had one of the best rides in the passenger seat of an E63 BMW M6 with our friend Abdullah where we joined in this great ride.

Divided into 3 groups, we headed down to Dead Sea and and we wanted to share our experience through the lens of Abdulla Ja'afari. And this time, we're gonna let the pictures talk for themselves. Enjoy!

[Driven] The Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid. Not every hybrid is a Prius.

Most of us petrol heads are afraid of the word "Hybrid", could it be because all we know about hybrid cars is that they trade performance for fuel economy? or maybe because all the hybrid cars we know are grandmother cars that are dull and only made to take us from a place another.

But suddenly this might change, when you introduce the word Hybrid, to Porsche.

Yes, Porsche. One of the world's finest sport cars maker who have made the Boxster, Cayman, and Carrera have recently introduced the power of hybrid engines to their cars where they can combine the power of a standard fuel burning engine, with a healthy and standalone electric engine to boost its standard performance.

University Drift Festival - Students Becoming Masters

University students in Jordan – including crankandpiston mate AmmaniV12 – competed in the inaugural WE Drift Festival, putting their own cars through their sideways paces.

There are certain stereotypes that come with being a student: baked beans on toast eight times a week; all-night essay sessions for last-minute deadlines, oversleeping and missing tutorials by the term-ful, and devoid of financial support. Evenings can quite easily be spent perfecting Forza or Gran Turismo as a consequence.

Nobody appears to have told university students in Jordan, however, with nearly 60 cars entered in the inaugural Drift Festival for universities across the country. An event exclusively billed for amateur runners by organizers "WE Drift", only university students were eligible to compete, so those of you hoping to grab a shot of Mohammad Al Kukhun or Ahmed Daham throwing their cars around by the scruff of their crankcase may be disappointed.

The new 2013 KTM Adventure 1190/R

We were invited a while ago to Beirut by Darwazeh Motors, who recently acquired the KTM Motorcycle dealership in Jordan, to go and check out the latest release by KTM which is the new KTM 1190 Adventure and Adventure R. Where it has been a long awaited bike after the 990.

The new 1190 Adventure will make a big mark in the market, where it has really shown its much more improved performance, handling, and beautiful setups for going on and off the road.

We were welcomed by the Lebanese dealer, A.N.Boukather, to their beautiful showroom where they had various KTM models, but still, our focus went to the beautiful 1190 ;)

[Driven] The new 2013 Audi Q5

The weather was nice last Monday, and we were able to head down to the Dead Sea and spare some free time. And we all know what that the best kind of vehicle for such trips, and could get us the closest to the lowest point on earth.

We were looking for an SUV, and while Audi have released the new version of the Q5 with a great 2.0T TFSI engine, we thought it'd be a great option for a long trip, a comfortable ride, and still be good on gas!
So we grabbed our cameras, picked up the car and headed down Na'our, and down to the Dead Sea.

Harley Davidson Sportster Forty Eight

Its been a really long time since we've published an article. We've been cramped with many projects here and there but now we're back, and we're back with something new!

We've recently gotten ourselves even more involved in the automotive scene, through Motorcycles.
Motorycles have been going big around town for a while now, you see many of them going around but we've never heard anything about them on the local media scene. We got our licenses done, and gave it a shot!

We present to you, the Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 Forty Eight. A very good looking American motorcycle from the smallest family of the Harley Davidson brand, The Sportster.

But don't let the word Small fool you, as this bike packs much more than being just a starter bike.

The SLS AMG Black Series [Updated]

A few minutes ago, Mercedes AMG's page on facebook have just uploaded the first pictures for this beauty.

We expected the car to show up at a worldwide motorshow, Not on Facebook! But these days, Online social media has been topping out every kinds of marketing methods.

One would have thought – considering the amount of action on-track in Jordan recently – that there’d be little time to roam the paddock and check out the lifestyle. Think again.

Whilst chatting with the Muath Al-Essa and Ra’fat Haroun of this world, AmmaniV12 and CrankAndPiston's voice recorder also happened to stumble across Auckland’s own ‘Mad’ Mike Whiddett, former NZDRIFT and Formula D Asia Pacific World Drift Champion, current Red Bull Car Park Drift judge, and all-round internet sensation.

But where did the ‘Mad Mike’ name come from? What keeps him coming back to the drifting circuit? And how did he avoid spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair even despite the doctor’s assurances?

Turns out we packed quite a lot into our little chat…

[Driven] The New Toyota GT86 / Scion FR-S

Back in 2007, Toyota have released a beautiful prototype teaser at the North American International Auto Show under the name of the FT-HS (Future Toyota Hybrid Sport), sparking the return of the sport Toyota cars after that they've been away for a while now.

It was sort of an excitement for the all time Toyota sport car fans, specially those who have admired the 80s sport cars such as the Toyota Celica, Supra. And specially, The Corolla AE86.

Its been 26 years since Toyota have launched one of the people's all time favorite rear-wheel drive Corolla, the AE86. It has always been known for being a lightweight coupe, that could be easily modified and pushing more power to its rear wheels, making it a noticeable car in the Drifting scene.

After years in development, and changes in plans. The FT-HS has came to a point, where it's now the Toyota GT86, and also called the Scion FR-S in the US Market, or the Subaru BRZ.

RedBull Car Park Drift 2012 Finals

RedBull's big day has come, The final stage for the middle east drifting championship of the RedBull Car Park Drift. We've fully covered the preparations day earlier this week, and we were already amazing by all drifters, and their cars.

The drift took place at the Jordan Rally service pit in Dead Sea. The location was great, the weather was nice, and we couldn't wait to see what the competitors had planned for us on the real competition day.

RedBull Car Park Drift 2012 finals preparations

Back in 2011, RedBull has organized a couple of Car Park Drifting events in Jordan, with some of our local drifters qualifying to compete for the title of the Middle East's Drift King.

Ahmad Dahham have qualified last year, and competed at the finals in Lebanon but unfortunately, Jordan didn't take it. This year, a local drifter Mohammad Al Kukhun has qualified to the finals, but this time, The finals are held in the lowest point on earth; Dead Sea, Jordan.

With winners from all over the Middle East, shipping their cars to Jordan. Working hard on having their cars stronger and with better setups for the finals. The time has finally come for the best of the best to meet in one space. drifting for the title of Drift King.

The 2013 Victory Judge

The 1960s has been marked as the era of American Muscle cars. With the bulky tough body designs, big engine blocks, raised white lettering on the tires, and many other remarks of big muscle.

Where the 1960 Ford Mustang stood out, and has been a great part of inspiring the creation for the new Victory Motorcycle bike with their latest 2013 Victory Judge. Victory's latest addition to it's cruising bikes lineup.

The bike has recently arrived to Amman, and was featured at a Horses competition at the Royal Stables of Jordan. It was actually a good choice by Optimal Trading, linking the inspiring Mustang's horse logo with the new Mustang inspired motorcycle. Catching everyone's attention being at the middle.

The Monster is back; The new BMW F12 M6

A new M car is always big news when launched. Which catches the attention of enthusiasts, enviers, youngsters, and other manufactures. Why is that though? Well simply said is because the BMW Motorsport division are the ones who started the segment of beast in sheep’s clothing in the 80’s and since then it has been a brand which we have most grown to love, and has been the benchmark for all.

A drivers car which can be like a Swiss Army knife, a car which you can drive to drop of the kids to school, do the grocery, then taking it to the track and letting it rip and putting supercars to shame. A no compromise everyday supercar.

Renault's official opening

Alkan international motors have recently launched Renault's brand in Amman, Jordan.
Although you might find several Renault cars spread around Jordan, they finally have a home now. The official dealer has the whole full line of Renault cars, ranging from their Clio, Megane, Duster, and to their funkiest electric car, the Twizy.

The location of the new showroom is in Swefieh, right next to Ole Jordan previously. It shouldn't be hard to miss as it's yellow all around as Renault's brand color. It's a pretty cool location is you ask me, as it's sort of close and easy to reach coming from anywhere.
